Ciao, I’m Benedetta!
I am an Italian Service Designer and Design Strategist based in London; a “practical all-rounder, this is how my colleagues call me. I have just obtained a MA in Service Design from the Royal College of Art (London) where I mainly explored how to design our future through the development of strategies, services, and products leveraging on the intersections between humans and technologies. I’m passionate about future thinking, unconventional design processes and taking a research-driven approach; my interests and skills lie mainly to the research and prototyping phases as they create fundamental insights to design products and services.
During my master, I have been working with Ernst & Young, Surviving Economics Abuse charity, Logitech, CERN, ACRE, Aalto University and the VISA Innovation Center.
Prior to my postgraduate studies, I graduated in Industrial Design from Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis focused on the future of travel, while part of the Design Challenge was sponsored by EY CogniStreamer and Nimble-bee. I won the first world award of the challenge with Jackit, a combination of product and service for business women in 2030.
After I completed my BA, I joined a Digital-Transformation Company in Milan as UX Designer where I had the opportunity to design the operational development of web-structures and models for a wide range of SME’s. Here I was also part of a publication called ‘Digital Observatory’ (2019) where I provided user research and mapping the digital strategies of North Italy SME’s. I then had the privilege to join Tangity (Part of NTT Data Design Network) as UX and Service Designer, where I learned to be highly collaborative within multidisciplinary team and where I dipped my toe into workshops facilitation. Joining RCA has been the turning point to pursue my interests and to apply the design thinking methodology on real world challenges.
I am a founding partner and fellow of RCA’s Design & Philosophy Society and co-founder of the B+D Club (Business and Design) in collaboration with some friends & colleagues from the London Business School where we shine the spotlight on the intertwined worlds of Business and Design. Furthermore, parallel to my postgraduate studies at the RCA, I worked as a Service Designer at IAMNAB (NPO) promoting design thinking in its applicational reality and as a design thinking masterclasses facilitator for RCA Executive Education. Lastly, I assisted the course of Design Thinking meets Future Thinking at Politecnico di Milano in the MA Integrated Product Design.
